    I'm John.

    Default Stereo

Recently I've been thinking about what gives me most listening pleasure. It's simple - it's two channel hi-fi. I've listened to a few five channel set-ups in the last year, just to see if I was missing anything, and the answer is NO. Just like quadraphonic sound in the seventies, it's simply not necessary. If your stereo is properly set up in your listening room you won't improve on it by adding more channels. That's my cloak trailed - anyone want to argue?

I've always regarded stereo as the only way. Adding channels seems to falsify impressions and sounds inaccurate to me. Maximum separation at the front is what you want, so why bung a central speaker in and adulterate that separation, that's almost like having mono.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
