    Default Bonjour

    Hi, I'm Eelco.
    Longtime lurker on this forum.
I'm a dutch guy (57) who moved to France 6 years ago to start a chambre d hótes, togeter with my wive.
Before i have been a sounddesigner for commercials for 15 years.
I'm still in love with my yamahas ns-1000 which i bought over 35 years ago.
    I listen to flacs via a bluesound node-2, a doge 6210-2 ( tube) head amp whic i also use as a pre-amp, a nad c 740 which i use as a power-amp. Don't believe in fancy cables.
I use roon as interface. Love it. Also there DSP works wonders for cancelling roomnodes.
Beatles, Bowie , Crosby , Zappa, Lambchop, Grizzly Bear, Anja Garbarek, Stina Nordenstam, to name but a few. Some cello suites to calm down.
Although happy with the sound, there is room for improvement.
I think in the amplification and maybe a seperate dac.
I'm really drooling over the quad 405 monblocks, which are for sale on this forum.
You can't find stuf like that in France. At least, not at reasonable pricing and in good nick.
Oh well. Glad to be joining.

Hello Eelco. As a sound designer, what do you think of Lambchop's latest album. Quite different with all the voice distortion stuff going on. I like it.

    Thanks for the warm welcome.
The latest Lambchop I consider brilliant. Soundwise, musically and emotional.
Bare in mind I'm dutch, so i might express myself somewhat clumsy.
Also I''m very excited about acquiring the quad 405 monoblocks.
When i bought the yamahas i bought a NAD class A amp with it. Brilliant.
About 15 years ago it broke down and because lack of money i bought the NAD C 740.
A brilliant amp for the money, and you get used to the sound, but i still remember it was quit a step back.
So i'm looking forward to using the yamahas with the quad 405-2 monoblocks.

Hello Eelco. Welcome to AOS from me too.

The NS-1000 speakers have quite a following here, so you'll be in good company.

If you are interested in the Quad amps, have a chat with the seller.

There's lots going on here, so have a look around and join in the chat.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
