shall we do a sweepstake on the cost?
I reckon 15 large USD for the motor unit, and with plinth pushing 20
they have serious balls now with their pricing, and this will not be high volume.
Grrrrrr - mine still looks the biz.

I agree, unless one literally fell into my hands - how much better can it really get for what they will want to charge for this. I mean, I could keep my SP10mk2/sh10b3/sme V and put an extension on the house or something like that? Maybe even a new BMW??
If its sane money, and I fear it won't be, then I could be very tempted.
Regards Neil
I think the area where they've moved their tech forward (certainly with the 1200 re-vamps) is that of the motor control & giving a much smoother drive to the rotating platter. There's certainly room for improvement in that area with the SP10 Mk2 aswell. It'll be interesting to see what Technics propose for a 21st century plinth & also to see what these standalone units actually sell for.
A well fettled sp10mk2 with heavy tenuto mat is hard to beat .

I may be wrong, but they'll be selling to a boutique market now as the broadcast one is probably long gone. The few that'll want one will be wealthy oligarch types I suspect who will pay the money as if it's short change. It'll go well with the Naim Statement amp and Wilson Audio speakers I suspect...
