My fear realized, not going to be worth that, sorry rip off price I feel if that's just the motor. Now complete package, motor, arm, plinth, maybe that is justified, maybe not.

I am pretty happy with my AMG Giro, so not mad keen on buying a SP10 new or old.

I have owned pretty much all of the Japanese direct drives and many thread driven turntables. One thing that I found to be most important was platter mass.

Interestingly the older SP10mk3 platter weighs in at 10kg, 3kg and almost 50% more than the latest release. My bets are on the mk3 holding value and increasing once people find out that performance is at least equal to the SP10R.

Mk2 values could increase, especially seeing the price tag of the SL 1200G at £3000.

Plinth makers will be rubbing their hands together! Interesting times.

Funny you should mention platter mass, an SP10 MK2 with Tenuto is not far off an SP10 MK3. I'm told the concerning think with MK3 SP10s is the electronics are extinct and once dead remain dead. I can't remember the actual part but it's long gone. If it goes the SP10 MK3 is dead in the water. As with all things I expect there is a work-around but you've got to find it and then find someone competent enough to carry it out. The smart money goes on an SP10 MK2, platter and plate refurb (£190) getting it serviced and placed in a Panzerholz plinth. Oh, new power supply too.

Its the MN 6042 pitch control chip that can go but its not a problem. There are upgrade chips from Fidelis Analog.

    Prices out now.

The deck on its own, motor, PSU $10000 Motor Unit, PSU, Plinth + tonearm $20000

The Technics rep revealed that all Technics decks motor units are hand built, by Technics in Japan.

I think $10000 for the motor, for what it is, seems to me to be a tad too expensive, and the full package seems even more over priced.

Went to a demo yesterday for this locally and it was mighty impressive. Way out of my price range, but wow. I think the dealer sold out of their entire pre-order allocation within hours after the demo.
Current equipment: Cornscalas - Quicksilver Horn Monos - Technics 1210 M5G with Zu Denon 103R cartride and Haufe SUT.
