And the 'everything else' buying too.

Anyways, perhaps Audio Al could be persuaded to part with one of his pairs of JBL L100?

Just to add something pretty random on old speakers... I'm surprised the old white front Mission 770's don't have more of a following as a "desirable classic".... They were regarded as a "giant killer" in their day

There doesn't seem to be many, or any, about for sale so that could be why. Agree they were a good combination of strengths.

I heard these way back in the '80s - a Linn Isobarik killer (but then that's not difficult IMO).

Are those the ones with the 'chocolate bar' sculptured foam grills? (available in blue, orange and chocolate brown. )

If so, they are best listened to suspended from the ceiling (the speakers that is) and aren't too bad a listen.

L100/4311B great fun, imperfect but very enjoyable JBL only sold 500000 of them.

Mission 770 mk1 or 2 deserve to become classics, all barring a slight tubby colouration to the bass they were/are rather good in an SP1 sized box as I recall.

    Yes.

That's a later pair with the symetrical driver arrangement.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

It was the slightly tubby colouration that made them if you ask me. Similarly true of the JBL L100. Get that little bump in the bass just right and bingo! you have a speaker with mass appeal.
