The Shure sounds better than Benz wood sl I used on it before. Its quite a versatile arm to be fair.

Paul, just so you can have a bit of a gloat

I have dumped the Orb SE and found a Denon DP80 in mint condition. We all make mistakes in life and unfortunately I made a big mistake in not following up your sale. !!!

Anyway, I'm on a journey now to get something super.

Glad you kept your kit and made me sort myself out.

    Happy days.

Great news Peter, let me know what you think. Do you have a step down transformer, if not air link transformers do a plug in one for not much money and does the job. Do you need a plinth or did it come with one?

Hi Paul , got and airlink step down transformer.

However, no plinth so it's either a custom build or a DIY job. Looked at a few companies willing to do the job and they look really nice.

I did get offered both the DK2300 & the DK300 but they both fell through.

So's it keep looking for now, unless you know different. Also need a decent armboard for the Dynavector DV507 MkII

Looking for what Peter? I'm not keen on those fruit box type rectangular plinths. Mine is based on a plinth from DIY audio. Check out " monsterizing a denon dp80 " There were two threads on DIY audio, the first was designed by the member on there and machined by an engineering company in Athens, who now sells the plinth, silly money. The second I believe was still machined by the same company but was a one off for a client in HongKong. Mine is a budget ply version modified to my taste with a sub plinth to bolt the arm pod in position and not rely on weight. Interested to see what type of plinth you go with.

Yes indeed, looked at all those decks and yours is especially nice. However, I'm not up to that expertise. So it's going to have to be a fruit box as you call it, but there are some guys in Germany that will do me a special in piano black that looks good. ( no, more than good)

Nothing will ever replace the Rock 7, so this is a second deck project. Just trying do do my best.

The Denon is quite an easy deck to make a plinth for. I did one for my JVC, a similar flying saucer shape. Not as beautiful as Paul's but hopefully not a fruit box

You're far too modest Ian, that looks lovely, any more pics?

some have said the denons sounded bland and blamed the fruit box plinths. I don't agree and put that down to the lesser denons being the problem. My DP80 sounded great just resting in the plinth and not fixed.
