@jonh - slept on it. It is a head vs heart thing. Head says I don't need yet another amp and can't justify it. Heart says it is a wonderful amp, will give an absolutely fantastic emotional experience and is also a work of art. Sadly my head has won this time - and swmbo is a factor. Sorry. Good luck with the sale. There is one lucky buyer out there.

@Lawrence - lovely cherry Kudos - from Adam (Westlover).

Fully understand Edward -I've been in exactly the same situation myself on more than one occasion.

    The amp. Is still available.

Newbie question; looking for speakers to go with this, would it power tannoy little gold monitors, or would that not be a good match? Would like to try out valves on a sub £1500 budget and this amp seems ideal

I used to have this very amp and used it without issue with Living Voice Avatar's which are 94db sensitivity. I think the little gold monitors are 92db so not much different although of course the 92db may be incorrect. I haven't used Tannoys myself so perhaps see what others say first.

Depends which LGM. The 12 is 94db sensitivity I believe, the 10 very slightly lower.

Tannoys like a bit of 'grip' though. Some lower powered amps work with them, others can be a let down.

My 15 watt valve monos work well and I've had decent results from the 12 watt Leak Stereo 20.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I agree with the comments made by both 'Flapland' and 'Walpurgis' above.

I am no great expert on Tannoys myself although I did listen to a pair of Little Gold Monitors many years ago and liked them very much. In theory I would have thought the Soundlabs amp. ought to be ok with 92db sensitivity speakers but a lot depends on room size and how loud you want the sound to be.

Spencer, are you sure you are tackling this the right way round ? Perceived wisdom seems to be that you choose an amp. to best match your speakers; not choose speakers to best suit the amp. Although I'm sure many of us have done it the wrong way round at some time in the past

Definately not sure I'm tackling it the right way, having sold all my kit now looking to pair up speakers and amp at the same time. Thought I'd give valves a go, so will be buying speakers at the same time, only room limitations are size and close to wall positioning

Thanks Al, I was looking at getting some help but they were all going up the A1 not the M1. I've since sold my Audio Physics and bought some Kefs so I don't think a 300b would work well, my 40wpc EL34 struggles in the bass control.
