Default Sovereign Sale: Longdog Audio DAC Prototype

DIY AUDIO DAC (LONGDOG AUDIO DAC PROTOTYPE SALE) (sale #001)

    GUIDE PRICE: £400

This sale is on behalf of Molly Coltart, she is selling most of the Hi-Fi kit that belonged to James Coltart who sadly passed away earlier this year. He was known on this forum as Sovereign. He will be missed by many here who enjoyed chatting with him online, and many who met him in person. Thank you to everyone who has given me important information about this equipment, and for the kind donations of kit that had been loaned to James which we are now selling to support his family and his memory.

Please do contact me with any questions. I now have email notifications turned on, which I didn't before as I was a newbie to this forum so apologies to those who were waiting for replies from me. I'm not a Hi-Fi expert, but I have a background in electronics and engineering so I will do my best to help. Apologies that some of these images are not great, most of these are DIY projects and the front panels are simply brushed metal. I will try to get better photos for the cosmetics.

    Information about this DAC:

Doesn't look like much and has no top, but it is the prototype of the Longdog Audio dac, and has a valve output stage with Bud Purvine transformers, and it's seen off many a dac over the last few years. If anyone is interested please let Colin know. I'd say a fair price would be around £400 or so. The transformers alone were around £200.
    (see http://theartofsound.net/forum/showt...ereign)-Post-1)

The valve Dac I'm very familiar with, Ali Tait having brought it over to my place several times and I've heard it at his.
Superb bit of kit, deserves to sell.

Strangely the first link takes me to what appears to be the first ever post on AoS!

That's weird, it's working for me. Maybe it's the app you're using?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
