No, they're not essential to the listening of music (unless you have a Marantz 10B tuner or a Stereosonic 555 integrated amplifier which have them built in).

What about my half dozen soldering irons, ten odd rolls of solder, tins of flux and a big bottle of Bakers Fluid?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Doesn't everyone have one in their system to check for clipping etc as required?.... Shoddy

Yes, but how many screwdrivers do you have, or pliers for that matter?

Most likely - I think I have a dozen pliers of various sizes and at least twenty screwdrivers (never actually counted them). But only three soldering irons.

I very likely have more tools than any non-professional on this forum. In the UK at least. There are tools for every purpose.

    Electrical/electronic/gardening/building/carpentry/plumbing/mechanics tools/lathes/drills of all kinds/sprayers/welders/craft tools............you name it!

I can repair, make or build just about anything. But seldom bother these days .

(and don't even ask about my huge stock of paints, adhesives, solvents and lubricants )
