Default Pie in The Sky. This won't happen!

Tunnels covering motorways? Barmy! It won't happen. It would take years to implement and the cost would be enormous. If internal combustion powered cars are due to be phased out over the next twenty or so years, what's the point anyway? Commercial vehicles will no doubt be under pretty stringent emmissions controls by then too.

They are only talking about short stretches of road in populated areas, not doing whole motorways. Doesn't sound like it is a permanent structure either, more like a tent. Could do with that where I live, surrounded by highway on 3 sides, the air quality is dreadful, especially in summer.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Biggest danger to your health in Holland is all the bloody cyclists.

I know. Bombing along ringing their stupid little bells as though we should all get out of the way for them. I do wonder how many get beaten to death each year.

Similar in Cambridge, though they don't appear to have bells. They bomb around like they have priority even on pedestrianised roads, pavements and wrong way up one way streets. I've lost count of the times I or my Wife have been almost knocked over and the language you get just because you dared to be in their way. Unbelievable.

Even worse in Cambridge because most of them will be poxy students.

In the 'Dam I guess they will mostly be drug dealers or brasses i.e at least they are working for a living.
