Default Is direction indication still part of the driving test?

I know that BMW drivers are exempt, but has this now been extended to all drivers?

It's becoming a real ball-ache at junctions and mini-roundabouts trying to figure out where the **** people are heading!

Beamer drivers are mostly the worst, followed closely by merc and audi drivers.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

With the technology available today it should be possible to fit the car with a device that monitors when the car is turned through 90 degrees (or more than, say, 75 degrees) and whether or not the indicators have been used. If the driver's average is more than 40% of turns without indicating the engine management system could shut down the engine, lock all the doors and fill the car with cyanide gas. People's driving would improve quickly, or at least the worst offenders would be removed from circulation.

Ahem, you'll NOT see that from me! It roasts my tits when folks don't signal, so when I'm on the road, I like to set an example instead, for what should be done

Honestly, I try to drive as good as I possibly can, and by that I mean courteously and responsibly too, not simply 'textbook', in terms of observing road signs, etc. I think it also helps you to drive well, when you're not surrounded by continual traffic congestion, relaxed and rarely in a hurry to go anywhere

Ha - me, too. I like that! Essentially, there needs to be much more control imposed on the (generally dreadful) driving behaviour of the general public, and hard-hitting penalties meted out for non-conformity.

Folks need to learn (the hard way, if necessary) that when they're behind the wheel, they can't just 'do what they like'.

One of my pet hates, i just don't understand why they don't do it.
Another thing are the drivers who indicate , but only after they have manoeuvred.

Yeah. That is hopeless and really gets me. Why bother?

The idea is to let other road users know what you are planning to do, not what you are already doing!! Useless bastards!!!
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

It's a reflection of the people who are driving. Back in the day, we waved a hand signal, even in the rain, to let others know we were turning. Then for many years all but the rudest people signaled! Now, no one cares, if you rear end them insurance will claim it is your fault, so they just don't care. They would have to do something considerate of others, and that would be against what they believe! Self driving cars are coming soon, maybe they'll signal?

In a nutshell, Russell, it's simply sheer laziness/selfishness, which sadly is rife in the world today. Few folks care a jot about how their behaviour impacts on others, on the road or anywhere else; they're too busy staring at their phones, cocooned in their insular little bubbles!

Funnily I was talking ( moaning ) to a friend about this problem yesterday . It's selfish , lazy , and rude not using your indicator in good time before you manoeuvre
