Excellent sounding preamp. I have a TRON Meteor, which predates the Seven, but I have heard the Seven as well on number of occasions. Super build quality (just look inside), good component choice and excellent sound quality. Virtually no circuit noise (I can't hear any with my 104dB/W Avantgarde Duo horns). The Seven was upgraded a few years ago, so you may want to check if the unit is a new version or one of the older ones. You can send in units for upgrades, if required.

No, I'm afraid not. In fact Tron is one of the few brands I have little actual experience of. However, I have seen loads of internal pictures and the build quality is really outstanding - none better.

By the nature of the kind of bespoke product Tron is you can get GT to make modifications to suit your power amps, upgrade components etc.

    Hi Mark

I had a lend of one for a week. It was the older seven model in the newer case. Firstly it was slightly noisy (hum) even though it had just been (expensively) serviced by Tron. Build quality and feel of controls etc was excellent, heavy and solid although the top cover rang bell like if you tapped it. Switching from an Alps black Passive the Tron brought a beautiful ease to everything and an improved sense of space and separation. There was however a lack of drive and dynamic which ultimately I couldn't live with. I could imagine it working well with gentler music.

Having heard a much better, silent, recent model which had some upgrades they definitely have a house sound which imparts a very, very light honey glaze or sheen.

    Best to try for yourself.

Oh and the one I tried went back to GT for a further check AFAIK and is being thoroughly enjoyed by its new owner.

Thanks everyone for your comments the build quality and component choice does look very good,
I have had a very kind offer from a member here to lend me theirs in a few weeks for me to try. Outstanding place is this.

I have a Tron Seven Reference MC phono stage, selling for a customer at half price. Lovely bit of kit.
