    I know this will put the 'Cat amongst the Pigeons', but the below is the
    way I hear it.
    I've been running an LP12 with a Mission 774 arm and a MC cartridge for years.
    Due to circumstances the MC is now in an Acoustic Research XA Turntable.

    It sounds superb.

    After some investigation and detective work, I can see that most modern suspended
    turntables are a copy of the original XA.

    Edgar Villchur & Acoustic Research were innovators in many areas of audio.
    They certainly got it 'right first time' with the XA.

    i loved my first proper turntable,an AR 'the turntable' with a 774 fitted,i was very happy back then before all this chasing the sound started.
