Default Wrong time of year to be selling?

Is it just me or is it a bad time to be selling kit?

I've got an ad on gumtree for a Linn LK140, it's in perfect working order but it has a small dent in the front and one on the back, I know this can be off putting to some but I've got it as low as £185, that's half what they can go for on Ebay. (i'd hang onto it if I didn't need the cash as it's a useful bit of kit)

My bad experiences with post and packing have put me off shipping it.

Is there a 'right time' to sell?

    Rich.

The Summer period is always slow for selling, unless it's holiday related - BBQ gear, garden items, drinks, summer clothes etc. For some reason, this year the slowdown started early, around 4 weeks ago. It's not just selling stuff, the forums are very slow with few contributions.

Through the Winter and Spring, I was having a clear out of vintage gear, selling it on E-Bay. I have stopped now because of the lack of interest and will wait for October.

Summers always been slow for hi-fi, whether it is equipment sales, magazines or forums. That's why the hi-fi mags always do an 'awards issue' in the summer, basically the magazine equivalent of a 'clip show' where they can just re-print exiting reviews instead of having to write a whole magazine.

Once the clocks go back and the weather goes bad people start stopping in of an evening/weekend and looking for something to do and it all picks up again.

That makes a lot of sense, it is the time of year when money goes on other things.

I'll leave the ad till it expires then try again in the darker days later in the year, no point giving it away.

Holidays are an odd idea, spending thousands to live somewhere else for 2 weeks, never understood it.

On the face of it, it does seem an odd idea, but I travel (and spend thousands to do so) to foreign countries to experience different cultures, see wildlife and scenery I wouldn't see here, and meet peoples from different backgrounds and see how they deal with this curious phenomenon we call life.

Well I can do some of that by just visiting Camden in London. It really is multicultural and has some wonderful shops selling food from all over the world. A bit short on the wildlife, sand dunes, mountains though!

Would I need a visa to visit Geoff?

Very true. The "different cultures" have all come to visit me.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
