    At various shows I listened to well set up tape machines and have been highly impressed. Also, way back, I had some great experiences with a Nagra. So in terms of SQ I get it, but what I don't get these days is the lack of source material and where they are available the supremely high prices.

    The Tascam for sure looks lovely and I'm certain plays great - but what do people play on it? Surely folks are not dubbing CDs to tape?

    I use mine mostly for recording gigs from Sky Arts HD, stuff you can't get any other way. Some of the acoustic sets especially can sound superb.

    Ah yes that is a good idea. How do you output from your Sky box? Just RCA?

    There's source material if you look. I have over 50 x 15IPS 2 track 1/4 inch tapes - original distribution masters, "safety copies" (some with better provenance than others) as well as some Tape Project reissues.
