    Default Stuck platter?

    Hi all,

Having setup one of my SL1210 mk2 again I've found that the platter on one of them simply will not remove. Pulling off the other one is no hassle at all.

Has anyone come across this difficulty before and solved it?

    Cheers

A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Try packing cardboard under the platter rim all round, in order to apply a bit of upward pressure and then tap the spindle/shaft moderately with a hammer, using a piece of wood to protect the spindle tip. That usually works.

Thanks gents, will let you know the outcome. I think the packing will be better here, I pulled and wiggled very hard a number of times! (ooo err).

Small squirt of WD40 then leave for a while. Then pull up on the platter as someone lightly taps the spindle. Put a cloth over the spindle so you dont mark it.

give the spindle a good knock-knock, preferably with s bit of wood or hard plastic.
