Nothing to beat wood burners (or a an open fire) for hottest, but with most natural heat
Can't 'do' gas or electric heaters, as I find the heat very artificial and which dries the air. Same goes for central heating, which we also have, but only use very occasionally.

I couldn’t live without my Morso, although mine is dual fuel as i burn smokeless coal when its very cold as i can leave it slow burning all day.
The dust is a pain in the ass though, especially with black hi-fi.
I get what you say about electric heaters, i’ve got a stupidly expensive storage heater in the bedroom and i always wake up feeling stuffy and blocked up.

The red cedar has been down for around 4 years and the beech around 18 months, so both will be ready for winter.

Yup, can't stand that feeling... I've also walked out of some folks houses, who seem to like living in ovens, with said types of heaters on full during the winter, as I could literally hardly breathe!!
What is it with some of these idiots - do they no realise how unhealthy that is? Put a jumper on, FFS... My ideal indoor temp is around 18C, anything much more than that I find uncomfortable. I've always been the type who's preferred to be cold than hot!
Have you ever cooked anything on top of your stove? You can make some great bread and baked potatoes:

I’ve done casseroles and beef bourguignon in a Le Creuset a few times.
I do like the look of that cast iron baked spud cooker, but tbh as the Foodi does such epically good baked spuds i’ll probably stick with that.
I do have a Bialetti Moka espresso maker thingy that i use occasionally, mainly because of the aroma.

Forgot to mention that bought these a while ago and am mighty impressed with the performance and price.
The heat is good, they burn for a long time and leave almost no ash..
Compressed wood chippings.
