    Default Misophonia!

This thread is not here to cause trouble. But thought it was worth talking about.

Have now been experiencing misophonia for well over 15 years.

It's simply having a strong intolerance/annoyance (Hatred) towards certain sounds. Unfortunately, I get irritated by many sounds! Prime examples are- coughing, laughter, noisy children, barking dogs.... and many more!

With having the damn bloody TV switched on, I just can't stand hearing ''S''pronounced words when I'm sitting from a long distance.

Everyday I always leave the fan on running (White noise) as a coping mechanism. Must say, it does help!

Anyway I will have better days than some other days.

Do some of you members have this issue?

I have heard of it but dont overly suffer from it Shane. There are sounds though that do annoy me, and I guess everyone has them. My son doesnt like loud noises at all and he gets very crabby if things get loud. maybe same thing as they are similar noises.

I'm not familiar with the condition Shane but I suffer with raging Tinnitus and like you I find that some low level noise such as a fan or even just listening to the radio on a low volume helps during quiet times. If only I'd used earplugs when standing behind a 10k PA when I was younger I might not have it at all....oh well

Yes, I also have tinnitus. But I'm used to it!

Both ears are prone to getting waxy as well. This is something I've inherited, from my mother's side of the family.

got tinnitus too... work related....worse at night or when music is loud oddly. at night I leave a telly on quietly playing something so it doesnt bother me.
Children screaming is like a phone ringing and is in fact meant to be irritating in extreme. Man copied nature in that one

I have a mild kind of tinnitus caused by riding motorbikes that were way too loud but most of the time I am able to listen through it. Not quite sure I understand misophonia though. This may well make me more aware.

No, that's not misophonia - it's just good taste, just as is my intense dislike of the currently fashionable use of a 'talk box' (aka vocoder).

Too many years stood to the left of a drummer has given me an acute dislike of crash cymbals. I wear an earplug in my right ear when playing live or rehearsals as it goes right into my bones.

The sound of anything played on Radio 1, or indeed the sound of Radio 1 itself sets my teeth on edge.
One of these days... I'm going to cut you into little pieces.
