I have dipped into this forum, off an on, for some time. However, unto recently, I hadn't been playing vinyl for about twenty years. I had an old active Linn / Naim system with SBL speakers which was decidedly 'off', if you know what I mean.
I sold this system with the kind assistance of Paul Hobson from Moorgate Acoustics. He did a good deal and what he received, less fees, was returned as credit against purchases from his shop. Armed with circa £6K I bought a Rega RP10 with an Apheta2 cartridge plus an Atlas Ascent interconnect. This is now installed into my Cyrus Signature system. Both stylus and cable have about 70 hours to go to reach optimum, but it already sounds pretty good. I also bought a Project disc washer, which I cannot praise too highly.
I'm the proud owner of the Vienna Acoustics 'The Kiss' speakers referred to by Clive 197. I can be a bit finicky and am still experimenting with positioning. They sound pretty damp good and gave built on subwoofer, so I was also able to sell on a pair of RELs.
I like my movies and surround music. The stereo system is integrated into a 5.0 AV system, consisting of an Emotiva XMC-1 processor and an Audiocom modified Oppo 105D Blu-ray player.
The AV speakers for centre and rears are all Vienna Acoustics, Maestro centre and Mozart rears. Amplification is Cyrus X300 Signatures for front and centre, plus Cyrus Mono X for rears. All the gear is on a HiFi Racks AV stand.
I've just put Jeff Healey on the turntable, must listen.
