Default A few pics for Smithie!!

This is the Bordeaux track. Two tracks actually. the yellow shiny one is for 24th scale cars and the black plastic for 32nd scale.

I'm looking more relaxed than I felt (I'm on the left) but so many drivers look as though their world will end if they don't win. It's a game init?

No problem Al, anyone can enter.

First weekend every June. Big international meeting, People come over from the States, UK, Italy, Belgium and France of course. This was my first year so very much an exploratory trip for me. Did much better than I expected as it appears this old git can still hack it against the fast guys.

    hi gordon
many thanks and brill photos and cars.
i never realised there was different scales, and that track certainly looks like a good one....do they have helpers to put them back on the track when you come off while racing?....im lazy like that
and i noticed we have the same shirt to,ill have to add a picture
and yes you are certainly looking laid back and chilled....cant see any wine glasses in the picture.
i can certainly imagine how most would probably not treat it as a game,so hats off to you and i like your style....certainly be fun to have a AOS forum meet up and competition

    regards

At Bordeaux, they have a rota system. After you have had your sessions on the track, you marshall the next lot. Each corner has someone sitting or standing, hopefully ready to put the errant cars back in the slot. One of the reasons for my success is simply staying on the track and well as being quick. Staying just under the 'losing it' speed is the same skill as with full size racing. Of course is isn't a game!! It's life and death stuff. Back at it's height in the 60s, the clubs wouldn't let anyone under 18 join in. Don't want no kids spoiling our sport!

I confess to a wee bottle of wine at my 'pit'. No drinks allowed at the track as they seem to worry about mixing liquid with electrickery. It's only 14 volts so can't see the problem myself.

It has been fun reliving my past. Already planning the cars for next year.

    lol
it sounds great fun and a total blast gordon.
do you find the small bottle of wine in the pits focuses your skills and concentration?...i always feel as strong and invinicable as "iron man" once my bottle of wine kicks in
as for reliving your youth....way to go gordon....that should be compulsory
any ideas on your chosen cars for next year,or is it kept a secret till the last possible moment

    regards
    paul
