    Default Hello

I'm Rajeev from Mumbai, India and have been a dormant audiophile for almost 40 years now, since age 15 or so.

About 4 years ago I mentioned my to my wife that my colleague in New Delhi had bought himself a new BMW 5 series automobile in which he took me for a no holds barred joyride. I am reasonably frugal about these things, and the kids were almost through college, and so wife asked me a few days later if I would like to buy myself one, to which I responded saying there's no point, considering the Mumbai traffic and roads and the fact that, being an airline pilot, I didn't get that much time in Mumbai. My current VW has 9000km on the odo in 2 years.

I did say that if I could have a corner of the house to myself and spend 10 to 20% of the BMW budget on HiFi audio equipment, I'd be a happy bunny for life. She's not so sure now if she really wanted me to be that happy.

So happy bunny I am, but whoever said bunnies a immune from upgraditis . . . ?

    Presently listening to:

Previous stuff now in son's bedroom (this was all bought second hand/used except for the DAC):
    NAIM NAC32-5/NAP140
    Linn Kaber speakers
Source - MacBook Pro + Meridian Explorer USB DAC

    Audiomods arm kit
    Troels Gravesen SBA10 speakers,
which I hope should propel me into the stratosphere minus the jet engines.

Happy also to be part of this forum. I came in search of info on building the Audiomods arm kit.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hi Rajeev. Welcome to AOS.

Your DIY ideas sound interesting. Keep us informed as to how that all progresses. We have a Gallery section if you'd like to feature what you're doing. I'm sure it would be of interest.

Why not start a thread in the Analogue Arts section regarding the Audiomods build and ask any questions you may have. I'm sure you'd get loads of replies.

Feel free to join in any chat that appeals to you, there's plenty going on.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Thank you Geoff and Grant,

I once found a thread by Alan Towell, aka 337alant regarding the Audiomods build - that's what brought me back to this forum. His posts on his build experience of the Audiomods are hard to beat, nevertheless I'll try and supplement them best possible with the angle of the less experienced DIYer.

    Regards.
