    Hi,
I chose my username, "unchilled", recalling my children frequently told me to "chill, Dad" when they were teenagers. My first audio system, in the early 80's, was an Onkyo receiver with a budget Technics phonograph and Rogersound Lab speakers (a local southern California brand.) First CD player that I could listen (i.e. not drilling my eardrums) to was a Magnavox/Philips.
I enjoy mainly classical music and jazz -- my exposure to popular music when growing up was self-limited -- silly snobbery in retrospect. Played the violin as a teenager, but stopped playing in my 20's -- and did not receive any recognition for my service to mankind by doing so.

Current system: Galibier Serac (design by Thom Mackris -- great guy), Siggwan 12" unipivot, ZYX Airy 3 (not the new carbon cantilevered) or rebuilt Lyra Argo (decapitated the cantilever with a flying LP); phono stages/preamps -- Klyne 7PX2, Gill Alana with K&K phono board; power amp -- Herron solid state; speakers -- Green Mountain Eos HX; cabling -- predominantly Cerious Technologies by Robert Grost (autocorrect prefers the deceased poet Robert Frost). CD player -- I'm a nonviolent Luddite -- is an Arcam FMJ CD36.

I'm an anesthesiologist (anaesthetist), working at UCLA since 1984. Chief joy in life -- family. Also enjoy the occasional concert, we are blessed with a fine symphony orchestra led by maestro Dudamel.

    Cheers,
    Harvey

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Hello Harvey. A big welcome from me too.

Some nice gear you have there. If you have any changes in mind for your system, we'd like to hear about them.

There's plenty going on here and it's a friendly place, so get involved and chat with members.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

    Hi Harvey.

We don't see much US gear over here, so it'd be cool to see a photo of your system, and/or a few comments on it.
