    And no - despite its superb performance, the Alphason arm is not "utterly stunning and probably the best looking arm ever made".

    Preamps: Heavily-modified Croft Charisma-X. LDR Stereo Coffee. Power Amps: Tube Distinctions Copper Amp fitted with Tungsol KT-150s. Quad 306.

    Cables & Sundries: Mark Grant HDX1 interconnects and digital coaxial cable, plus Mark Grant 6mm UP-LCOFC Van Damme speaker cable. MCRU 'Ultimate' mains leads. Lehmann clone headphone amp with vintage Koss PRO-4AAA headphones.

    Tube Distinctions digital noise filter. VPI HW16.5 record cleaning machine.

    Speakers: Tannoy 15MGs in Lockwood cabinets with modified crossovers. 1967 Celestion Ditton 15.

    Interesting that Avid chose titanium as the armtube and headshell material for their new tonearms! Maybe the old Alphason inspired that choice? Whatever, these new arms look lovely and I hope the sound matches the engineering and finish.

    $28,000 is a lot of dosh for an arm! But the designer seems to have thought carefully about the design. I like the idea of the 'falling weight' bias compensation producing constant torque, which most don't.

    Don't agree with the designer's choice of null-radii though.
