I'm sick and tired of all this talk about a good or bad Brexit deal. To me, it's like comparing methods to remove a healthy leg, with the worst deal resulting in losing both. People will look back at this time with incredulity.

Not for me. I've been against the EU since the Maastricht Treaty. Brexit gives me a warm glow every time I think about it. I'd really prefer they hadn't called this election and just got on with it. I don't trust Labour to push it through.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

No idea what Kool Aid is despite visiting Canada. Yes the poor will suffer the most because the cost of vital food imports will rise. We are heavily dependant on such products. The EU are very unlikely to let us have any sort of good deal because No 1 priority for them is to keep the EU together. All this nonsense about EU countries needing us more than we need them. Imports /exports to fellow EU countries dwarfs our trade with member countries. However much anyone wants to leave the EU there will be a dire cost to our economy. That is unless our government agrees to the four freedoms. Can't see that happening.
It refers to the mass suicide of the socialist/communist cult of 'Jonestown' in Guyana, where they drank grape juice laced with cyanide

'Although Jones used poisoned Flavor Aid, the drink mix was also commonly referred to as Kool-Aid. This has led to the phrase "Drinking the Kool-Aid", referring to a person or group holding an unquestioned belief, argument, or philosophy without critical examination'
