Yup. Easter eggs will be in the shops soon.

While I love the food & drink at Christmas, and time spent with friends and family, I really don't like the rest of it to be honest...Far too commercial for my liking

I'm not at all religious so it has little meaning to me

And that makes it all worthwhile and something to look forward to, surely?

That's certainly the case for me, and negates all the commercial bullshit attached to it. Plus I love decorating the house so that it looks all nice and Christmassy.

We've got lots of lovely vintage decorations (from the 50s/60s), collected over the years, and always buy a real tree (as big as we can fit in), so the lounge does end up looking rather good, and nice and cosy at night in the dark, with nothing but the glow of the tree and wood burner illuminating the room.

I enjoy all that about Christmas, as much as anything else

    True enough Marco...

I'd have a tree but Colin just won't allow it....

I spend a nice few days staying round Colin's over Christmas which is lovely but a tree is out...

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
