Fair enough. I was just curious to know if such a person existed. Personally, I'd draft in John Prescott...

I love his no-nonsense approach and values, and especially how successfully he 'connects' with the electorate!

Him and Ann Widdecome (from the opposite side) are my type of politicians. To coin a good Scottish word, they would soon 'tober' some of the assholes around who badly need 'tobering'!!

was going to say the only good politician is a dead politician Labour are set up to lose alas, and the Tories know it. TBH the labour party know it too thus the sucker offering of Corbyn. They need an Atlee in charge, or a Blair to have a chance. Today their best chance is Sadiq Khan although the bigots would probably have a field day.

No. Folk may vote Labour out of desperation and frustration regardless of Corbyn being in charge, rather than put up with further Tory piss-taking. That's the way I feel.

Ah I see, fair points., including the last one...

Just been slowly going through the discussion of this topic on pfm, which as usual is interesting, particularly how Tony has chosen to moderate it, and found someone there agreeing with me (not just Merlin):

Me too. I'm not particularly a fan of Corbyn, and like others fully recognise his limitations, but for me his overriding asset right now, is his anti-war humanitarian traits, and desire to tackle terrorism, not by using more bombs against the enemy, but with peaceful negotiation (however that may successfully be achieved), which would act as a badly needed antidote to the current warmongering polices that (as he says) clearly aren't working!!

And right now, I'd forgive Corbyn for his faults, simply for our government to fundamentally change its outlook, in that respect, and for us to try, however hard it may be, to MEND some bridges, instead of tearing them down.

    Appeasement, you mean.

This is fundamental to Corbyn's problem. He is so naïve he thinks you can talk to these nutters and reach some common ground. That isn't possible.

I don't think his approach would be as simplistic as that. He may be 'inept' (I don't necessarily consider him as naïve), but he's not stupid. There are subtler ways of going down the negotiation route, which could be tried, and may ultimately be rather more effective than the current 'plan of action', which is clearly failing miserably.

All I'm saying is that, with Corbyn and May, and their respective approaches to terrorism (along with those of the US) it's a case of yin/yang. We've had the yin for long enough now, which has failed and significantly contributed to the current mess we're in, so now let's try some yang!
