People are considered collateral damage, the same as a bridge or road - that's the ugly truth whether we like it or not. We only have value within our own circle - outside of it we are in fact of very little value - less than an oil refinery - or the outcome of an election.

My thoughts are with those who suffered - but I'm not blinkered by grief or outrage.

'Strong Stable Leadership' - now it means so much more. The UK is fucked.
Without getting too conspiranoid on this forum (though I could), it would be naive to think the security services don't know exactly who is doing the radicalising. Given that, what kind of infiltration has been done, what kinds of quid pro quo? Useful idiots everywhere, and yes, life is a cheap means to an end, very often.

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
    To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are
On and on the rain will fall
    Like tears from a star
    Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
    How fragile we are
    Time flies like an arrow.
    Fruit flies like a banana.

Outrages like this have occured before and will no doubt happen again. There is a small isolationist minority in this country and across Europe, who lead insular lives and want nothing to do with 'outsiders' and in fact some of their number hate their 'hosts' and regard it as their duty to strike out at the general population in the name of their cause. I'm sure there will be a backlash. It is inevitable and is just a matter of time.

The problem is we don't know their motives - we are told them by the Powers that be (and of course certain groups claim responsibility which they would). We are told this just the same as we are told that the 27 member states of the EU who are out to screw us when in fact that are not. Why this is so I don't know.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Watch Tom Hollands recent channel 4 documentary about ISIS and you will know their motives, they are chilling and implacable and they can very easily justify what they do.

    http://www.channel4.com/programmes/i...mand/63137-001

All you need to know about the reasoning behind last night is contained in that program. Its a very hard watch at times and Tom Holland does an excellent job with very difficult material.

Agree there is no secret as to what their motives are.

I don't doubt they have their ideology, but I ask where they get their weapons from, there training and I remember how after the twin towers all flights were grounded except the private jet carrying the Bin Laden family who had been at the Whitehouse. This is a documented fact and raises many questions about just what v governments know.

Trump has just sold 20billion dollars of death to Saudi Arabia - whose hands those weapons might end up in we don't know. Whatever the reasons or culpability of what happened last night today there are families in extreme pain - not because of idiots but because of a bigger political game of which we know very little.

What we do know, for those of us who remember the IRA is that peace can only be achieved through diplomacy, not arms sales.
