That's out of order, Jez. You're lucky that Simon has taken the remark so well. And that's allowing for the fact that my political views are much more in line with yours than his...!!

However, you cannot speak to people that way, so if you're unable to be nice to someone, then ignore the person concerned and say nothing. Furthermore, if they annoy you that much, then that's what the ignore function is for

No I don't think it is out of order unto itself. It's not offensive. It's a view he thinks my views are septic. You can say that.

But what I would question is when a person says this, you'd think they'd give a reason why, or the other person is thinking why are they not doing so. Also if you take part, why you don't say. If you don't take part, don't post.

I'm sorry if you take offence, we should be able to have a debate and be friendly about it. I don't know a huge amount about conservation anymore although I did study biology 20 years ago at university and I'm pretty sure my views are still consistent. But conceivably I'm wrong on certain things about hunting which may be too much of commercial interest. I'm sure that does happen.

That's fair enough, and I'm glad you're being so reasonable, but the point is, ultimately the mods and I decide what can be said here and what can't - and that isn't up for debate!

And we are in *entire agreement* on that matter. Apology accepted. Just try and rein-in the anger in future

some information on rhino conservation, and how legal shooting has been found to go hand in hand with conservation. I could find hundreds of articles with the BASC.

There are considerable studies on population biology and inhabitation that show species have a maximum in a habitat, so it's not a case of shooting defenceless animals and it has nothing to do with a political agenda. In fact to be a conservationist you don't need a political persuasion unsurprisingly.

And anyway I'm not right wing, I'm someone who believes in society and certain elements of labour policy. I'm appalled at how the conservatives are cutting some spending and I am appalled at how disgracefully laws under conservative governments like corruption of police etc, don't get dealt with. The case of the Asperger man who was criminalised for a fake bomb is quite appalling. It wasn't actually a bomb which would go off. He just got 15 years because society doesn't supervise or look over him. So I'm definitely not right wing through and through. I've decided not to vote for anyone anyway. My conservative mp is Nicholas Soames, a grotesque man.

Not sure I can reconcile "huge respect" of an animal with shooting it dead.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Because you are killing the animal for the propagation of the species and the conservation of the species, to maintain numbers of a species in its population. Not some kind of warped messed up media thinking you get a kick out of it. So you kill the animal in the recognition of that. That's why so many tribal hunting communities kill and have ceremonies with animals because they are a source of food too.

Layman don't understand this because they see killing an animal as reducing its number with no understanding of ecology, population genetics etc.
