Now my new Sophia Electric 91-01 300B monoblocks require the speakon cable to be connected to the left/right + speaker posts, and the negative core to be connected to the earth post on the pre-amp, "BUT!" ~ I don't have a pre-amp!
Could I connect the negative core to the Cary dac (earth) chassis instead?

I suspect the black and green wires are there simply to provide a pallitive measure of shielding. I would either ignore them, or connect them to a mains earth (such as the metal work of your DAC).

It says when using high powered connection to connect ground to ground of 1 ground connections on amplifier but not to both - nothing about preamp - or are you connecting it differently?
