    Default Headphone Amp

    Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with the Little Bear headphone amps? Or similar. I rarely use headphone with my system but recently I could've done with a headphone option. Are they any good as a super cheap option?

I've had the odd Little Bear item. They do the job well enough.

If it was me wanting something to drive headphones with cheaply, I'd be looking for a seventies Japanese integrated amp. Maybe from Technics, Rotel or Trio and the like. They are cheap, well built and tend to sound pretty good via their headphone sockets. There is also the benefit that they can be used as a backup amp. I'm rather fond of the Trio KA-2000A and Rotel RA-611, both have really good sound quality.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Thats not a bad shout Geoff, unfortunately theres no room at all. Just enough for a small headphone amp.

Depends what you call cheap, but I recently bought a Musical Fidelity X-Cans V1 for £60 from Gumtree and chucked in a pair of Jan Philips 6922 and for the money its superb.
As an added bonus it takes up very little space and looks quite smart.
I just need to change the PSU (when I can find a sensibley priced one) and I'm good to go.

I saw that but couldn't get the cash together quick enough. Give me a heads up if a sale looks likely.
