    Default ATS Euromaster

Had to get a new battery for the car and went to ATS for first time... probably the last as well. from their website you get this amongst other promises.

Memory Saver Technology allows us to keep our customers’ security codes safe, so that it will not be necessary to contact your vehicle manufacturer, in order for your radio to work again, after your replacement battery has been fitted.

Yet when I went out to car, the radio was blank and requiring a code. so when I went back in and complained the manager assured me they dont have things like that and never have. anyway he says, its my resposiblilty to know my code not theirs.

I have emailed the company with my complaint but received no response...

just a warning not to use them unless you know your own code. In fact probably go elsewhere... first time in my life this has happened. even if you dont have any equipment, (and by way even i have such equipment as my battery charger can do it) you coukld have kept engine running and the radio would have stayed on.

    Hopeless shower.......

They are an absolute bag of shite, they damaged my Mercedes fitting a new exhaust and then tried to charge me to put it right. It was only the threat of me asking trading standards to look into it that made them back down. Kwik Fit aren't much better either.

I NEVER use ATS... complete monkeys. I've had trouble with them every time I used them including going back 4 times because one of my wheels was out of balance. It was on the 4th return visit (all within one day) that they finally told me that the wheel had a buckle. No apology.

Another time I had them take my locking nut and they denied it. When they looked in the boot I saw the guy drop it in to the where the wheel was... I saw it as clear as day. I went nuclear but they again denied it and told me it was there all along... which it most certainly wasn't.

The last time I went they tried to sell me this engine cleaning stuff to which I said "no way, not after all the trouble I've had with you in the past, I simply don't trust you". He was very apologetic but at that point I had enough.

So, yes... don't use them, they are an absolute shower and on par with KwikFit - you up.

They say you need four friends in life : a doctor, a lawyer, a mechanic and .. something else, but I can't remember what.
Luckily two of my mates are mechanics, though neither are still "practising" the trade these days. It does make it handy when things go wrong or even for a simple MOT - I get one of them to book any kind of work in under his old trade name then I get honest treatment and reasonable prices.

Given I'm absolutely useless with cars it's just as well

Yes the guy I use for car has been so busy I cant get an appointment. Handy guys, good mechanics.

It appears plenty folk have had similar disappointments with them. If this thread stops 1 person more getting short shrift then it will be worthwhile.

Finally got a reply which stated the machine that the manager said they didnt have wasnt used as the battery in the car was not the correct model. Bullshit. They are such liars. Why cant folk just put their hands up and say, yes we got it wrong. People accept occasional errors, what they dont accept is blatant lying.
    Sad company!

They hold their hands up they have to compensate you, and that comes off his branch's bottom line and might affect his bonus.

Sorry to hear of your woes at ATS, mate. I only use them for nitrogen tyre inflation - fook all else! I wouldn't go near any of those places with the Brabster.

Everything for my car, apart from windscreen replacement, is handled by my trusted specialist mechanic, including tyre and battery replacement. Don't let it lie and make a complaint to their head office, citing the depot manager (and his staff) of the branch you used as being incompetent.

The good thing about dealing with large companies, in such a competitive market as ATS/KWIK FIT operate in, is that these days their head offices will take a dim view of shoddy service from their branches, so lay it on thick and chances are you'll get something out of them!
