I've see the recommendation to run PMCs upside down on studio fora before too, won't do any harm to try.
Speakers on their side is a different game though (not that it will harm them - just unlikely to yield sonic benefits) as if your apply any toe-in it messes with the phase/time relationship between the tweeter and woofer.
Given the size of the speaker, I doubt it would make much difference.

I've dropped them back down as I was getting a bit of sibilance on certain tracks, I've slightly adjusted the position of the stands and I have kept pretty much all of the improvement without the sssss 😊
Good stuff. That kind of thing gets annoying once you notice it.
