If you can find them, the Zavfino 1877 Phono tonearm DIN connectors are very good, sensibly priced and much easier to solder up than the Cardas ones. Pair that with some KLE phono plugs and the Van Damme cable and you have something that's hard to beat unless you're prepared to spend much more. I'll disagree about whether a Jelco arm can justify a pricier cable - notwithstanding the obvious fact that a high price tag does not necessarily get you a better sounding cable, I hear clear improvements over the already excellent Van Damme with certain cables, so a bit of care can propel a Jelco arm rather further than you might assume.

I use a straight connected Oyaide cable that does the job well. I have heard differing results with a standard Jelco cable.
