    Default Best Electronic Album (last 30 years) - any genre?

    If you had to pick the best electronic album which was made and came out in the last 30 years in the electronic genre which would it be and why? Sorry if this has been done before (suspect it has), but humour me please.

    I'm thinking any electronic genre can count from dance, techno, house, dub, trance, downtempo electronica and chill out etc.

    I was racking my brains over my album collection going from groups like aphex twin, orbital, massive attack, the prodigy, underworld and Leftfield.

    It was a toss up between leftfields leftism album and underworlds dubnobasswithmyheadman. But I settled on leftism because it was so influential, combined loads of styles and has fantastic melodies.

    Yes thanks, have both of those great albums. Moby play shades it for me and so many tracks and different styles on that album. I like the last track called 'my weakness' lol. That moby album is well quoted in best electronic albums lists. I like orbitals snivilisation too, also well quoted.

    Listening to some great stuff at the moment from neu! Halogallo onto Brian Eno now.

    Nice one for doing that list. Oh sabres of paradise, sabresonic, now you've got me talking. You are clearly an ambient man from your selections.

    I do like many different things but yes Ambient artists do feature quite often in these parts. Not sure why but even as a kid I've been drawn to soporific sounds. In the right setting of course. Not much fun having your friends around for the evening and playing Music For Airports all night!

    The electronic album that I keep coming back to, even though it is a various artists compilation is Quarknosis. Chilled trance from the Kinetix label.

    Also worthy of mention in my opinion;

    Abakus - That Much Closer to the Sun
    Various Artists - Goa Trancendental 1
    Various Artists - Feed Your Head 1
    Channel U - Ape-Man Talking
    Spacetime Continuum - Sea Biscuit
    UVX - Double Helix
    Beaumant Hannant - Texturology
    Higher Intelligence Agency - Colourform

    For me there are two electronica albums that stand out huge above so many and that would be 1) Brian Eno - Thursday Afternoon and 2) Younger Brother - A Flock of Bleeps. Massively different in style but stunningly awesome.
