No, not really. I find them a bit ugly, but not unacceptably so with the grilles on - if I preferred to use them with grilles off they wouldn't be acceptable at all - they then look truly hideous.

I put up with my mild distaste for the looks because I love the sound.

I couldn't be 'aving with the stripey veneers that some folks love, either. Yeeurgh.

Broken first gen Sony RX-100. Got it free with Amazon vouchers supplied by NatWest for spending so much on their credit card LOL.

I'm sure it is a long way from even being class leading now. It can't even shoot UHD vids and my phone can.

I like the look of the Thoress - all hi-fi kit should look like lab equipment. And should have alpha-numeric designations, not some stupid name.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

    Hear, hear!

It should also look suitably sober and 'purposeful', in the sense that it's a simply a tool with which to reproduce recorded music, not a blingy ornament to 'wank over'....

If you want, jewellery, buy a brooch!

Interesting concept. Buy ugly hi-fi to resist its sexual allure and thus reduce the risk of exposure to fluids.

    Top 'AoSing', Marco!

FWIW I am not adverse to the Thoress look.

Here's some Tektron amps. I like these too. I had one in the house a while back doing Greg from G-Point a favour I seem to remember. No chance of driving anything here though.

On the topic of not looking good... sorry Jerry!

Der Ververshiter... probably very good. But who cares?

    Pathos.

Not sounding great TBH. Quite dry and sibilant. Recording? Speakers? Or just not very good all round?

So I sat down and cheated last night.

I played only recordings I know sound stella and tried to juxtapose what I heard with what was at Munich.

I estimated a fair price based on sonics only and I think around £250K for my system based on SQ alone would be reasonable value. Maybe that is conservative. It definitely outperforms systems costing more than that.

    So I conclude:

    1) What a crazy hobby.
    2) There's nowhere to go at reasonable cost.
    3) What a conceited, smug post this is. The fact that I really believe it is somewhat worrying
