    I've seen some Acoustic Energy 109s - bit scruffy. What might be a reasonable price for them if they work OK?

    They are basically a 'stretched' AE100. If you look at an AE100 photo you'll see what I mean. They're nothing wonderful, but they'll play music OK. A scruffy pair I'd rate as being worth no more than £100.
    It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    The tweeter is set 5db below the upper mids and with a steep 'corner.' It's possible to fix it by reducing or removing the inline resistor, but you'd need a reference speaker to check against. I did do it once, but it was decades ago now.
