Jap speakers can be bright but I love mine. I found they sound a lot better with the grills on so for me, any jap speakers you buy need to have the grills with them.

I would suggest that the moderators set explicit guidelines on the use of expletives. I am not hugely offended by expletives but I do find it a little irritating when they are used inappropriately!

I occasionally use expletives to comment on events that seriously shock or trouble me (e.g. the actions of Trump or on particularly offensive actions such as the use of gas in Syria). It just seems a little lazy to resort to expletives merely to express a strong appreciation of a nation's speaker output (no pun intended).

There are enough words in the English language to express hyperbole rather than the overused expletives often resorted to out of laziness or limited powers of expression!

there is in the ethos, although it could do with updating a bit tbh. Like folk to use good judgement re it. your not kids but don't want folk just insulting other users either. it doesn,t help your case, and if something is said about you then complain to a mod who will look at it and make a decision. then that it... saves pages of ping pong, deletions and recriminations.

Explicit quidelines about swearing are not required. Most folk are not too bothered by it in moderation. There is no preponderance of 'bad language' here. If it becomes excessive (which it doesn't), no doubt it will be moderated.

Deliberate causing of offence or antagonisation are another matter and not tolerated.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

People who are offended by expletives are themselves offensive IMHO. I find them so anyway. Excessive use is to be discouraged though as it robs this important part of the language of its power and meaning.

That's what the level controls are for. Had to adjust them on my Akais at MiBO as it was way too mid-toppy - first time I had needed to use them.

I have lowered the highs and mids but still sounded a bit toppy. Much better with the grills on.

Exactly, save it for when there is no sufficiently strong or precise alternative!

A lot depends on the kit you are using them with, don't ask me why because I don't see how there can be such big variations in the balance between carts and phonostages and so forth but there are. Room will affect it as well, mine is pretty well damped.

These sort of speakers don't go low with any sort of power behind them so that in itself will give a toppy balance. That was why I used mine sat on the floor, to much complaint and criticism
