    Default Hello.

Hi, Am retired and currently use the dreaded linn / ittok mk 3/2 / radikal with no other trimmings. Cart is a retip shure ultra 500 mm which plays well into a delphini 4 box mc phonostage . Pre is a woodside , power an old exposure 4(1979 apparently) driving naim dbls . CD is a Phillips job kindly given to me by a record dealer who had no use for it. Also have a rebuilt lowther set amp and a very nice woodside sta 50. Am absolutely hopeless with computers including pics etc and after finally erupting at home now use the library pcs as the cctv acts as a very good deterrent for hurling abuse at the computer, also the staff are very helpful and accommodating. Cheers. Oh, I use the loaf name as I tend to try to 'loaf about ' as much as possible.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

    Hello Bruce. Welcome to AOS.

That's an interesting selection of equipment you have. I bet the Woodside and Lowther components turn out some nice sounds.

Tell us what music you listen to and what future plans if any you may have for your system.

There's plenty of interesting stuff going on here, so feel free to get involeved and chat with members. They are friendly.

If you want help sorting anything on the PC, like photos for instance. Just ask. We can assist.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Hi All,
Thanks for the welcome. Listen to analogue classics (deccas etc) as well as Yer Rock. Am finally getting round to jazz and enjoy swing as well as Miles/ Coltrane/ etc. Due to practical reasons may be cutting down on beloved valves ie very hot etc. Forum looks varied and interesting. Cheers.

Ah Yes the lowther . Had better clarify this . It is in fact an 18 s lowther (originally) a push pull amp (Built in 70s I think). The main transformer eventually died on it . I had it rebuilt by Service Sounds as a set amp so it probably is not really a lowther amp as such though does still have other transformers on it. Small , compact and heavier than the woodside sta 50 . Rolled off top and in my view strong deep bass which improves depending on quality of ancillaries . Built for 4 ohms out put and a captivating mid as You would expect . Might try and get one of those ipad things and try pics again .
