    Default Quad 405-2 monoblocks .

    Hi All,

Here for sale is my Quad 405 Mono Blocks. All the work done on these was carried out by Duncan (Tubehunter).Rebuilt to exactly the same spec as his, these have been upgraded with four F&T 22,000 power supply capacitors, four 35 amp bridge rectifiers one per rail. RCA Phono connectors and power switch fitted.
There is one 405 mk2 board in each case, which is up to Keith Snook's Mod 3 level. Including 20A output transistors, PRP 1% resistors through out with Z-foils in key areas, OPA604AP Op-amps, new inductors, transistors polystyrene small value caps and Elna Cerefine capacitors. Limiters have been removed and Vellaman K4700 loudspeaker protection boards fitted.
The cases are a bit tatty but could easily be resprayed if you are fussy.

Not looking to profit on these just recoup expense.

If you need anymore info feel free to pm.

I demo'ed a pair at MiBO last year, feeding Quad 57 ESLs. Those that did listen gave favourable feedback.

Duncan has done an excellent job with mine.

    Good luck with the sale.

I'm surprised these haven't sold. I have a pair and they are stunning. Duncan has taken the 405-2 up to Keith Snook Level 3 and beyond. The adoption of monoblock topology brings further advantages with reduction of inter-channel crosstalk, and the ability to 'close couple' the power amps to the speakers .

Folks, these really are excellent amps going for a reasonable price.

These are a proper cut above people, you'd hand over a couple of grand (at least) to a dealer for something new that would compete.
