    I'm Ras.

    Default Hi

My name is Ras, I lived in Ramsden Road a long time ago and since then I am using that nick here and there
English is not my primary language.
Recently I bought Meridian DSP5000, old 18bit version, which is directly connected to Cyrus XT SE + transport and I quite love what I hear. Second DSP5000 input is occupied by Panasonic Blu-Ray/FreeView/USB media player which covers all of my needs. I like that minimalistic approach.
However I also have a turntable. The idea to go AD/DA way seems to be strange for me, thus I m trying to build second system around it. The turntable is humble Telefunken S600 hifi. Speakers Dynaudio Contour 1.8mk2. The amplification will be Naim Nac82/HiCap/Nap250 olive series. Just waiting for serviced Nac82 to arrive back home. Not much satisfied with phono stage though, so I am planning to do some research here and everywhere else about it. Also there is one Lenco in my wardrobe waiting to be completed.
    Music style?
I was a musician when young, listened to lot of rock, hard rock, art rock, jazz rock and metal that time. I even played in Thrash metal group haha.
Now more relaxed music is to my liking. But still there are times I love to listen a burst of proper "succulent" drive of guitar riffs.
From this genre I still like many guitarists as Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen, Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, Gary too, Van Halen, Becker and Friedman, Beck, Morse and more.
    From more relaxed music..
Women vocals are great, like Loreena McKennitt or Lisa Gerrard, E-Bride, Mari Boine, Green Children..
Keiko Matsui has very nice albums, Acoustic Alchemy, Spyro Gyra, Mozdzer/Danielsson/Fresco, Al Di Meola, Pat Metheny etc
John Adorney for his well of catching melodies, or Mercan Dede turkish music,
Andy McKee or Antonio Forcione for their guitar approach..
I grown up and was influenced by big stars like Queen, Mike Oldfield, Yes, Deep Purple etc.
Paradoxically never listened to Led Zepellin or Rolling Stones, just not my cup of tee
Pop of late 70s and early 80s is nice, later 80s not so much.
Classical music makes me a bit nervous
Rather then that some soothing music for relaxation.
That might be enough about me for now.
    Have a nice day everyone!

    Hello Ras. Welcome to AOS.

If you want to discuss phono stages, just start a thread in the Analogue Arts section and ask some questions.

There's plenty going on here, so take a look around and have a chat with the members. They are friendly.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

    Hi Geoff,
    Thank you for welcome.
The thing is that I have not available funds to buy it immediately, so the thread can become cold, there might be a gap between feedbacks one two months, so is it worthy to open such a thread?
I am waiting for repaired and serviced Nac82 (a new buy) which has MM phono cards fitted, I will need to warm it up one two montgs to get idea what is the MM cards/ preamp synergy with my system anyway.
    Cheers
    Ras

    Of course.

It'll give you the opportunity to discuss ideas. You don't need to rush into anything. There are many Naim users here and I'm sure various phono stage options have been tried.
