Well Marco, initially it is thick, gloopy and creamy to taste. Extremely piney but as peaty as the fires of hell. Lots of kind of fruit cake flavours. Very Christmassy. Currently enjoying a rather lovely Glengoyne 18, which I bought direct from the distillery, during a recent trip to Scotland:
What a lovely drop this is. So smooth and rich, no hint of harshness, or that smoky/peaty quality I'm not a big fan of. Sherry casks rule!

LOL I did the same, save it was a single bottle of a 2007 Château Capbern Gasqueton, Saint-Estèphe. This was the last of a case I bought back in 2009, which I thought I had drunk up.
