I'd be happy to pull out for a newbie but the level of commitment shown already is testimony to the success of the last show.

I can't see any connection between the change of ownership and exhibitors booking 2018 rooms early. In fact, Wammers are an independent-minded bunch, so the reason so many are keen to book their 2018 slots might be that 2017 appears to have been received as one of the best yet (whether despite or because of the change of ownership, who's to know?).

I'm sure an AoS room would be welcomed, but this forum would need to get the commitment from enough folk to be able to make a booking with confidence. Which I think is the main point of this thread.
i don't object to the change of ownership in principle, it's more the way it's based on profit, of course the new owner has bought the wam and needs to see a return whereas James started from scratch and didn't need to make a return, but probably found it became too much work which is a shame. I'm not going in to specifics here or anywhere else as its already been said.

just how many are needed to make a commitment, it's almost a year before the next event so there will always be someone willing to take on the aos room. Does it need a yes from the mods here to get the ball rolling.

I agree with Paul - just book an AOS room.
Plenty of time to get the constituent parts sorted!

I think you'll find that's an objection based on principle. It's not about how the site functions, it's about its driving objective. There's nothing wrong with disliking that, but it is a dislike based on principle not practice surely. Unless there are specific elements of how the site now works which differ from those in the past and it's these aspects you dislike.

Let's focus on an AOS room.

    I'd be happy to contribute.

Indeed... just because it has changed a bit doesnt mean it doesnt still have value. Not everywhere can run the way AoS does. You need a Marco to do that (we've got him and we,re keeping him)

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
