I was istening to Dave Liebman's LP "Lookout Farm" last night, and was surprised how incredibly thin on the bass that recording is. Afterwards I played his next LP ("Drum Ode", also recorded for the ECM label), and the bass sounds gorgeous, in full bloom on that record.

Wonder why did Dave choose to remove any low frequencies from his first album? Gene Perla constantly stays only on the high strings of his bass, and Badal Roy's table is criminally under recorded in there.
