    Default Don't ruin the paint!

McIntosh warns you about marring the finish on the receiver, but not about the 250 Volts running through it.

'Hold it across each of the large filters'

Sounds like the amp is transistorised so maybe the voltage isn't 250. Creating a big crack on discharge is more fun anyway.

(Don't try this at home folks if you don't know what's what)
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

It has a valve tuner. The transistors have 37V rails, but those caps have 250V to them. The valves are running at 120V. It's an interesting receiver. It has separate step down transformers for all of the different stages.

Sounds like you get some brilliant kit to have a play/tinker with.

It's cool. I'll take some pictures when I get some light in here. I traded 4 Pickering carts for it.

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

It might be fun but it's not good for the capacitors (or your screwdriver)!

I think we know that Will, but there is always a bit of a naughty side

As for the screwdriver it rather pales into insignificance compared to the dumbo who used a big spanner to check if the bus bars down a South African gold mine were live

True story from many years ago, don't have recollection of any more details now.

My Grandpa always used a giant screwdriver like it was a multimeter. Getting shocked never seemed to phase him either. I don't think I ever saw him use the right tool to do anything, but he always fixed everything.
