    Default Greetings from Dorset

    Hi everyone,

New round here, slowly upgrading hifi, currently sporting

Rega P1 Deck (I know it's a turntable but being just the wrong side of 30 and loving dance music it's a deck to me!)
    Sony QS 920 Amp
    Sony QS 920 CD
    Sony QS 940 MD
    Sony QS 820 Cassette
    Sony QS 920 Tuner
    Mourdant 902i Speakers

Looking to slowly upgrade/add to system (currently in the market for an SACD player) and at some point new speakers, but the ones I got from Richer a good few years ago still sound ok to me!

As for music I like, to say anything and everything would be an understatement. Tonight, I've listened to The Ronettes, Mariah Carey, Green Day, Rammstein and Daft Punk, I'll give any music a go twice, for me, music is all about the connection and where it can take me either past or future, listening to others thoughts about music on Desert Island Discs is one my favourite things to do, super glad the BBC have released on podcast the complete back catalogue (or what they have) of DID, makes for many hours of hearings peoples stories about how the found music and what songs mean to them.

    Roll on RSD!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hi all,

    thanks for the welcome,

I'm not a Sony fan out and out, but I've never had any issue with Sony stuff, whether than be TVs, Hi-Fis, Portable CD/MD players, one possible exception, Vaio laptop, dire, but that might be more to do with the fact I'm a mac man, use Windows though necessity rather than desire.

Sort of stumbled upon the QS system, was in the market for an MDLP, often annoyed me I couldn't play MDLPs except though portables or the Sony C5/C7 (I love MD) I have, so did some research and sort of came up with the idea that aside from Sony ES which is was out of my price range, QS was the next best thing, scoured that well known auction site for a 940/980 MD deck found some seller selling a the MD and the cassette deck, bought both for a price I was happy with, turned up, installed, the black QS against my silver Cambridge Amp, CD and tuner wasn't going to work! So resorted to that same well known site, and found a chap selling the amp, CD and tuner for £150 delivered, for that I couldn't turn it down to colour match my system, only had the system for about 6 weeks, so far so good, found my love for music all over again, not that it ever went anywhere but reaffirmed my love for music, the immediate future I need to find a 6 tier rack as I can't have the tuner/cassette on the rack at the same time, so the cassette wins as my mac is connected to the amp so can listen to the radio through that if the urge takes.

Longer term upgrades are speakers, all interconnects and speaker wire, then deck, as much as a love my P1, it's not the cheapest Rega for no reason!
