Default New Member System - Kala?

    All,

first attempt to provide a system picture on this forum. This is the gear as of November last year when the new speakers arrived. Naim kit in the main with 500 series amps and the vintage CDS3. Rega TT has the Apheta and I use the Naim Superline for the Phono stage. You may still be able to see the bits of polystyrene packaging in the floor bottom right, left over from the speaker installation.

Lovely system! It's a shame they stopped making the CDS3 ... one of the very best CD players, imo.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

    Thanks all for the comments.

Yes the speaker upgrade was quite a project running for most of last year. I had a listen to Focal Sopra II, Sonus Faber Amati, Magico S3, Wilson Sabrinas, ART's and a few more. In the end I guess I am a sucker for the B&W house sound and the 802's hit the spot. They replaced 803S. I refused to hear the 800D3 as these were quite a step up in price and knew I would want them. I also had a listed to the older 800D2 back to back with the 802D3. The D3 is better by quite a margin, good as the old 800 was.

I thought I would include the Rega this time as it is cropped from the first snap.

They are basically the new fancy version of the JM Labs that I've got.

Nowt wrong with B&W though, I've never understood why they are disliked by so many people unless it is because they try to use them with weak, pansy, hairshirt amplification. That doesn't work.
