    The wind has been picking up all day and its now very strong. Rain squalls coming in with it too. Glad im in now. Had to leave hat in car or it would have been in next county.

    Sunny here and quite mild. Bit of wind from the North but it's far from desperate.

    Hedges and trees are starting to bud out too. Spring is springing.

    But do you need to work that long? As I understand it (but I could be misunderstanding it) you have no dependents and no mortgage. Can't you just put shedloads of tax-free money into a pension and bale out early?

    I had to slog on until my children were through their education, otherwise I'd have packed work in at least five years before I did.
