Can I add a good word for Sky Arts 1 ? They frequently show abridged versions of commercially available concerts, Rockpalast re-runs, have the Classic Albums series and quite a few festival compilations. Although it's mostly existing material and everything is repeated frequently, if you like classic rock and alternative music it's worth a dabble now and again.

+1 for SKY arts via Tivo, been some great stuff on there recently.

In particular the From the Basement sessions featuring Sonic Youth, Beck, Jaime Liddel. Last night a buddy and I settled down post-pub with Eric Clapton's 24 Nights I'd tivo'd from earlier in the week. Thoroughly enjoyed that.

Last night's musical theme on BBC4 was "prog rock". Unfortuately the most interesting programme for me, that discussing the history of prog rock, was utterly spoilt for me. Around midnight there were long spells of signal drop out from Freeview, due I assume, to engineers working on the transmitters in readiness for the digital switchover in April.
