Perhaps folk don't realize that this type of machine is not for playing 4 track tapes 2tracks in one direction and 2 in reverse?, this machine is meant for taping all 4 tracks in one direction but that can be done individually .
Years ago many musicians used these type of machines for producing demos of new music recording voice drum instruments on individual tracks and also using simul sync to mix even more music into the existing tracks.

Looks in good nick Alan. Seen a few of these on Ebay.

On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

I used to have a slightly earlier model which I used to record demos and even once recorded a whole gig at The Richmond in Brighton, sadly no longer there. It was a really easy machine to use and built like a tank. Amazing how we used to record one thing the bounce it across to free up another track, always sounded good though. All part of the fun before digital came along.

I too have a 3440 machine. You can play stereo tapes on these machines. Just record/playback on ch1 and ch3. Only works for 7 1/2 ips tapes mind as there is no 3 3/4 ips speed.

Sorry I just couldn't be bothered to type it in. Didn't think it was relevant to the A3440 operation. But if someone really wants me to i will.
