    The APR5000 would need some work. The heads look worn and the tape path is filthy. The Sony used its own NAB hubs, which twist and lock onto the spindle. A standard set of Studer NAB hubs will fit, but you can't lock Studer NABs onto the reel tables.

    The Sony ATR 5000 as is I book at £500 in that condition needing repairing by the time you factor in the on costs it will end up working at £1500 +

    Yes, but that is still cheap for a machine, which is only bettered by a well set up Studer A80 or A820 IMO.
